Voice referendum proposes 'only 92 words to the constitution': Constitutional expert
UNSW Constitutional Law Professor George Williams says the Voice Referendum is legally modest.
He compares its significance to the 1967 referendum, highlighting that the current proposal merely inserts an advisory body into the Constitution.
"The idea is that this advisory body will be influential and will help drive policy and legal outcomes," Professor Williams told Sky News Australia.
"I think a lot of these issues get conflated and it's clear, not many people have actually read the words; it's only 92 words that will go into the Constitution."
He urges voters to read the concise 92-word insertion, as it forms the basis of their decision.
