The journey of “Yuchen 2”, EP31

After we triple check the weather forecast and the effect the ferries had on our "med- mooring" (on your achor and stern-to), we took a ferry to the famous island of Santorini (Thira). The white-washed houses clinging to the steep cliffs of the caldera were indeed postcard picturesque. Unfortunately, this was the worst kept secret so the cobbled streets were lined with only restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops and hotels, all filled to the brim with tourists. You can jump from jacuzzi to 'private' pool all the way down the slopes and it's hard to make nice pictures. The sunset attracted tourists like lemmings towards the town of Oia. Beautiful but a little too busy for our taste.
The Akrotiri excavation site was quite interesting as was the bus ride from Fira. Two days were enough to fill our tourist quotum and we were happy to find our boat patiently waiting for us to the next hop in running the Cyclades/Meltemi gauntlet towards Milos
