Kapi Kreek to Kekova
After a wonderful time in Kapi Creek we left towards Kekova Roads as it was recommended as a beautiful place. First we motored sailed the Fethiye bay and dropped anchor in the sheltered but rolling cove of Karacaoren. Up at dawn, we set course for Kekova, planning on a 50 mile trip downwind. We only raised the Genoa and Mizzen as the wind was right behind us. In for some experiments with sailing behaviour as we were not yet very familiar with our ketch, we decided to play with sail setting and trimming. We boomed out the genny, which was a little bit of a fight, but she settled quite well and was doing 7+ kts in 15 to 20 kts wind. The Mizzen restrained with a preventer balanced the boat nicely and we 'butterflied' with and average of 6 kts. We could sail to Dalaman where the wind shifted more to starboard so we had to get the boom down and tack the Genny. Good exercise.
