Where the Action Is 1965 – Action Kids – 3rd Man Theme, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass

Airdate: October 27, 1965

If it’s clear videotape from the 60’s, it’s probably from Uncle George. Thank you for another rare video Uncle George!

The Action Kids do a fun, little dance to Herp Alpert’s cover of Anton Karas’ “The Third Man Theme”. Girls left to right: Jerilyn Stapleton, Jill Gordon, Lesley Evans, Roberta Tennes and Joy Ciro. Boys left to right: Steve Ciro, Pete Menafee, Roger Minami, and Mike Williams. (This puts a big smile on my face every time I watch it)

“The Third Man” movie came out in 1949 and Alex Karas’ original theme spent 11 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s US Best Sellers in 1950. Herb Alpert’s version peaked at #47 3 weeks ago.

That little “the tape is rolling. Standby please” audio in the beginning was from the actual production of the show (I didn’t add it). This was the raw version of this clip before they overdubbed Dick Clark’s voice and the song. (you can hear the record crackling at the beginning)

For WTAI aficionados - This is the same episode where The Leaves performed “Too Many People.” If you watch both clips carefully, (The Leaves clip can be seen @cucamonga sewing circle) you can see that both of these segments were filmed at the same location as you can see the same tree on the left in front of the harbor.

Thank you for watching! If you enjoyed this, please be sure to give a “thank you” to Uncle George in the comments.
