American Bandstand 1964 - Record Review - The Belmonts / The Classic 4
Airdate: January 18, 1964
From Philadelphia - It’s Mashed Potato, South Street & Pony time! 😊
Here’s The Belmonts, after Dion left and The Classic 4, who would go on to have a stormy, spooky career before they learned roman numerals. 😉
Like the girl judges, I also thought “C’mon Everybody” was pretty catchy (I’ll give it a 82). To me though, both songs sound about 2 years out-of-date especially in this, the episode where they played “I Want To Hold Your Hand” for the first time only a few minutes earlier. (Chico probably hated that song too). Neither song charted but “C’mon Everybody (Do You Want To Dance)” was played often by Murray the K on 1010 WINS New York in early ‘64.
The regulars dancing here are: Richie Cartledge, Michelle Liebowitz, Gary Stapleford, Bruce Richard, Barbara Warchol, Bobby Baritz, Sandi Bartholomew & Ailyene Silverman.
Brought to you by me and @jthyme - Thanks Gary
Thank you for watching!
