State 6: Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Florida Panhandle! I found a sneaky little spot where I camped on the beach in Florida. You've been those vanlife Instagram pics with lucky folks waking up to see sand and waves outside their window. This is my first taste of camping on the beach with the van. While I did get kicked out, it was amazing while it lasted! I've never seen such a gorgeous sunrise and sunset, both on the same beach.

I also meet a couple people along the way in this video! You'll see Dom, a good friend from college, and Dolan, a new friend I made who is working towards living the vanlife himself! As I travel, I love meeting people along the way, getting to know them and the area, and broadening my horizons some more.

MY VAN: 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500 High-Top, converted from a handicap passenger van

MY DISCLAIMER: Most of the labor I did on my van was my first time doing those things, so I am very much not an expert. There are countless ways to convert a van into a livable home, this is just my way. This is a DIY budget van build, so I cut some corners you may not want to cut. Always use proper safety precautions and thorough research.

MY STORY: After backpacking in Europe and Asia for 14 months, I've decided to explore the USA in a converted campervan. In October of 2019, I bought my 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 and began converting it into my future home. I'm now roadtripping full-time with my cat, Cosmo, while traveling the USA and experiencing #vanlife​​​​​​. My idea is to hit the rest of the lower 48 states by the end of 2021.
