Nevada Northern Locomotive Number 81 - Restored and running after over 60 years

We are still in Ely Nevada to see and ride the newest addition to the steam fleet, consolidation #81. This wonderful steam locomotive was put on display in the White Pine County Museum in 1960 but has been returned to the Nevada Northern and restored to fully operational.

81 now joins Nevada Northern 93, which was also on display at the White Pine County Museum, and Nevada Northern #40, the Ghost Train. 93 was taken out of service for the winter as soon as 81 became available as 93 will be getting a "valve job and rings". And a few other little fixes. But 93 will be back and joining 81. #40 is out for a required "1472 inspection", a required rebuild and inspection of the locomotive after 1472 service days. #40 should be back in a year or so. At any rate, we get caught up with both of those projects as well as see and ride #81.
