Wandering the Switching Yards in Chama New Mexico

One of the GREAT things about the Cumbres and Toltec Narrow Gauge Railroad is they have no fences, no restrictions. Feel free to wander the yards and shops... SO WE DID!!

We wandered the yards in Chama New Mexico looking for... well stuff! Cool stuff!! And found lots and lots of GREAT things... The Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec as well as the railroad are acquiring and restoring anything they can lay hands on from the Colorado 3 foot narrow gauge railroads. Freight cars, Maintenace equipment including snowplows, pile driver, cranes, flanger, boxcars, refers, pipe gons, drop-bottom gondolas, as well as rebuilding the old buildings.

There was a time when kids often trespassed on the railroad property, thank goodness we never.... but this was reliving that thing we would never admit to doing (to our parents at least!)
