Canon R5 Underwater Auto-Focus Test Shots

Small fast-moving fishes are difficult to shoot with video and keep in focus. During a brief trip to Bonaire, I tried the eye-control auto focus on the Canon R5 (firmware ver. 1.7.0). The short clip here shows that this function will work although itʻs not perfect. Watch how it loses the Blue Chromis when it disappears behind a coral and then picks it up again when it re-emerges on the other side. My previous cameras would just focus on the background. The second clip is a Royal Gramma. Next time I will use a tripod (but not in Bonaire where they are not allowed). Also want to try an 85mm macro lens.

Specs: Canon R5, RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM with +4 close-up lens set at 105mm, Ikelite housing with 8" dome port, 4K 60fps, shutter priority 1/125sec, aperture adjustment -2/3, hand-held; lighting: two Sola 2500 video lights.
