Purple Queen (Mirolabrichthys tuka), Solomon Islands, Lumalihe dusk dive
Old NTSC video but I hope someday another one of these spectacular fish will pose for an 8K shot. This is a male Purple Queen and in the early evening light, it probably saw its reflection in the lens port since it is clearly displaying to the camera. Otherwise, these active fish are difficult to photograph since they wonʻt remain still for very long. As of 2022, its scientific name, Pseudanthias tuka, has been changed back to its earlier designation, Mirolabrichthys tuka.
