Stabilizing Canon 7D Underwater
Maintaining steady shots in mid-water is always difficult but even more so when using a DSLR camera due to the location of the viewfinder and the difficulty holding a camera steady in such an awkward position. An external monitor is one big advantage but adding a viewing tube on the monitor is an even better option. Holding the monitor tight against your face mask provides exceptional stability of the entire housing. The tube also allows better viewing of the monitor, especially in bright light conditions. The viewing tube used here is a simple piece of gutter pipe, but we have made an even better tube using smaller, plastic gutter parts that fit snugly over each other so the tube can be made to any length necessary for good viewing. Also, the interlocking pieces can be disassembled for easier packing.
