Ronald Maconaghie - "The Donkey Serenade" THE FIREFLY (Friml) 1969

The New Zealand baritone, Ronald Maconaghie, was greatly loved by audiences in a wide range of roles with Opera Australia - over four decades. His voice, personality and charm endeared him to his many fans through a variety of repertoire and styles. Here he sings Rudolf Friml's song "The Donkey Serenade" which was inserted into the score of his 1912 operetta THE FIREFLY when MGM made the film version in 1937 starring Jeanette MacDonald and Allan Jones. The music for the song is by Rudolf Friml and Herbert Stothart with lyrics by Bob Wright and Chet Forrest.
