In a world where the watch hobby can sometimes get too serious and boring, anything out of the ordinary catches my eye. The M.A.D Edition M.A.D1 by Maximilian Busser is just what we needed to give ourselves a reality check to remember that watches are all about emotion and feeling good. As much as I love to talk about Rolex, Omega, Seiko, and Citizen dive watches, spending time with such a wild creation gave me time to think about what watches are all about. This “watch” is truly unlike anything I have ever experienced and the lume show is on an entirely different level compared to the many bright dive watches I own. Maximilian Busser created the M.A.D1 as a thank you to all the people who have supported his main brand MB&F since its creation in 2005. It was very quietly released since it was never meant to be a regular production watch and he priced it around $2,000 to make it far more accessible compared to the highly complex 5 figure watches from MB&F. However, after the release demand burst through the ceiling and these accessible watches became worth $30,000. Is the watch actually worth the market price or has the unfortunate hype surrounding the watch and any in demand watch inflating the price?
