Should You Buy That Watch? How I Decide What To Buy And Where Do Watches Fit In My Personal Finances

So you like a watch. How do you decide whether or not you should actually get it? In this video I go over the questions I ask myself when I go through my watch purchasing thought process. I then go over how watches play into the grand scheme of my personal finances. This of course is not financial advice however this may be useful as a rough set of guidelines to go through, or it could provide some helpful clarity if you are on the fence about buying a watch.

Watches are constantly on my mind and with all the new watch releases that come out just about every single day, there are many watches that I would love to add to the collection. However, just because I really love a particular watch, doesn’t mean that I should actually buy it. There are many factors that can determine whether or not I should buy a watch. While the decision process is completely unique to every watch there are some basic questions that should be answered in order to gain some extra clarity to see beyond the excitement of a new watch. Questions such as, Will I actually be able to wear the watch? Is this watch really special? What’s the resale value like if this is a particularly risky or expensive watch?

A question that often comes up in the mind of anyone partaking in a hobby is how much money should I allocate to this hobby of mine? In my case I tend to spend a little more money on watches than perhaps most people would. I feel comfortable doing this for many reasons including the fact that watches are such a huge part of my life and watches are very liquid assets meaning that they can be sold easily if need be.
