Sudan: An Undiscovered Land
Followed by months of civilian protests, the Sudanese military deposed longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir on April 11, 2019. Just now starting to develop its tourism sector, Sudan remains a country seldom visited by outsiders. Deserted ancient pyramids and hospitable locals means this land has much to offer those wishing to avoid the crowds of other popular destinations. Despite a tumultuous past including genocide in the early 21st century, most Sudanese people I talked with expressed great hope for the future and are excited to talk with foreigners.
