NON HIT WONDERS
Blast from the past!
EVERY SONG A NON HIT!
SONG #0677 26-05-23
Title: Funky Capital, London (aka Can You Dig It)
Artists: ROGER COOK & MADELINE BELL
Format: Tape capture
Label: No label
Year: 1976
Composer: Roger Cook, Roger Greenaway
Publisher: Cookaway Music
Footnote:
This is Roger Cook and Madeline Bell performing “Funky Capital, London”. A jingle promoting London’s Capital Radio station. Jingle composed by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway way back in 1975. The jingle also contains a catch phrase of “Can You Dig It”, that was simultaneously being used in another one of their composed songs “Never In A Million Years”, versions by Alvin Stardust, Barry Mason, and by Roger Greenaway’s set The Nashville Soul Orchestra, and this one under the original title of “Can You Dig It”. For many years the Roger’s were involved with dozens of jingles and commercials, with much help from the rest of Blue Mink, plus new boy Mike Moran (keyboard wizzard). Chris Rainbow also got involved and of course the George Martin Orchestra, plus many of the station DJ’s. “Isn’t It Good To Know”!
Here’s a YouTube link to many of those Jingles, enjoy!

Something different for a change. Instead of hearing the same hits over and over again, I have dug out 3 thousand related songs to Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway. All are NON HITS!
I will be playing one song a day. It looks like I'll be finished in around 9 years time!
All songs are somehow related to Cook & Greenaway. Written, produced, performed, back vocal, Record label, Publishing. ENJOY!
Useless information composed by John Holman. Chronology researcher for songwriters Roger Cook, Tony Hiller & Barry Mason.
