ABC cut salaries of remote journalists despite claiming its 'committed to the bush'

Sky News host Paul Murray has called out the ABC for cutting the salaries of remote journalists in regional areas despite claiming they are “truly committed to the bush”.

The West Australian reported ABC would be cutting regional allowances for remote journalists with some losing up to $15,000.

“Rather than cutting anything in head office they’re cutting part of the salaries of people who are working in the remotest parts of the country,” Mr Murray said.

“They do this because they say they are getting horrible budget cuts … well I suppose if there’s no money around – oh hang on there actually still is money around.”
