The 2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition

In 2004 Ford celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, the iconic pony car, which first rolled off the assembly line in 1964. Some of Mustang favorites that were sold during those first 40 years included the Mustang I & II (1964-66); the Mustang Boss 351 & Mach 1 (1971-73); the Mustang II (1974-78); the Mustang GT (1982-86); the Mustang LX & GT (1987-93); and the Mustang SVT Cobra & Cobra R (1994-2004). Ford celebrated with various events across the United States including various car shows and parades where Mustang enthusiasts could gather, celebrate and admire the Ford Mustang, a classic American muscle car. And of course, Ford released a special 40th anniversary edition of the Mustang GT(named after the P51 Mustang Fighter) in 2004, which featured unique styling cues, such as special paint colors (crimson red, black and oxford white), a commemorative 40th anniversary badge, Recaro sport seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The 40th Anniversary Edition Mustang was also available as a 5-speed manual transmission or automatic. Only 5,700 40th Anniversary Edition Mustangs were produced, making them a rare and collectible find today.
