Achilles Rupture Non Weight Bearing Cardio Exercises

Did you know that there are ways around doing cardio without using your legs? Here are some ideas, if you have access to wheels or a pool.

❗️Check with your surgeon/health care provider when to start cardio following achilles ruptures. There are a lot of different protocols out there. I started wheeling around the block on the scooter 2 weeks out, "swimming" 3 weeks post, and biking 4 weeks after the injury (gym wasn't open before).

Pool tips:
⚠️ ABSOLUTELY NO PUSH OFF from the wall with the injured leg

☑️ Slippers make OK pull buoys. I am terrible at swimming with it, even though in my head, I swim like the Iron Lady 🙈 🏊‍♀️ 🥇🇭🇺

☑️ If you are not keen on putting your head in the water you can still do some deep water running/bicycling with a pool noodle (your foot needs to stay in plantarflexion)
