FINDING DANISH CAKE AND SEEING THE NATIONAL MONUMENT | Laos Visa Run #5 | TRAVEL VLOG #34

On our last day in Laos, we decided to walk out to the beautiful national monument before heading to the Thai consulate to pick up our visa. The walk in itself was not that interesting, but we found a Swedish bakery on the way – and wouldn't you know it? We found one of my favourite Danish cakes. As you can see in the video, the cake was not.. uh.. perfect, but that was definitely no reason not to eat it and enjoy our little break.

The national monument was beautiful! We paid 10.000 KIP each to get in and see it, and never have I ever seen so much gold paint in one place. Weirdly enough, it wasn't too much. Around the national monument there were a lot of giant temples, and before we headed to the consulate, we looked around a little bit. The walk to the consulate did not go as planned, but we made it there with time to spare and got our visas for Thailand.

On our last night in Laos, we went down to the river and walked a few hundred meters away from the night market and the tourist center where we found a bunch of little riverside restaurants. We had a really nice last day in Laos, and I can definitely recommend setting time aside to see the national monument if you're in Vientiane :)
