2 MUST-SEES ON ST. CROIX · RAINBOW BEACH & MOUNT WASHINGTON ESTATE · USVI
Hi guys and welcome to my last video from the paradise island of St. Croix. In this video we visit two of the island's most beautiful beaches and the historic Mount Washington estate – an old sugar mill with an interesting, but dark, history. But we’re starting out on a lighter note, on the beautiful Rainbow beach.

Mount Washington Estate was one of the most interesting parts of our trip to beautiful St. Croix. This historic property, located in the West End region of the island, is definitely a must-see destination for anyone visiting the area, and it completely free to see if you just want to walk around and explore the area like we did.
Mount Washington estate was one of the original Danish estates built on St. Croix. It’s the best-preserved sugar plantation on the island and welcomes visitors to explore the grounds on self-guided tours.
One of the most interesting features of the Mount Washington Estate is the historic sugar mill and rum distillery. These structures were used to produce sugar and rum during the estate's heyday as a working plantation. Today, visitors can learn about the history of sugar production on St. Croix and see the machinery used in the process.
From 1780 to 1820, St. Croix was the second largest sugar producer in the West Indies. Back then, when “sugar was king”, St. Croix was known as the garden of the West Indies, and if you drive around on the island today, you will see dozens of old sugar mills constructed under Danish rule between 1750 and 1800.
I’d say you’d need about an hour or so to explore the area, and bring water ‘cause you can’t buy anything there.
Westend Beach, also known as Isaac's Bay Beach, is a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach located just a short distance South of Frederiksted. This beach is popular for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. We wanted to visit Sandy Point Beach, but we couldn’t go there because the whole area was closed from April to October to give the sea turtles their privacy. I hope they enjoy the beach. It looks amazing.
Rainbow Beach, located about a kilometer North of Frederiksted, is a popular destination for beach-goers. This beach gets its name from the rainbow-colored rocks that can be found in the area, but I don’t remember seeing any of those. It was really beautiful though and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Frederiksted area. Make sure to check out my video from Frederiksted if you haven’t already.
That’s it for my third and last video from St. Croix. Make sure to check out the other two, and if you're planning a visit to St. Croix, be sure to add the Mount Washington Estate and the beautiful beaches of the West End region to your itinerary. You won't be disappointed.
In my next video, we fly from St. Croix to the smaller island of St. John, so make sure to subscribe to my channel and stick around for videos from St. John and St. Thomas as well. Please like this video if you enjoyed it, and in that case I’ll see you in my next video. Bye.

Hi there! I'm Anne-Li – Danish girl, globetrotter, travel vlogger, blogger and digital nomad traveling the world as a digital nomad, when I don't live in Denmark with my boyfriend. Spending a month in Budapest every summer taught me that traveling does not have to be expensive and that slow travel is the way to go – for me. I was traveling full-time for 2 years from September 2016, and I usually based myself in one place for at least a month or two. This way of traveling is not only budget friendly – it also means that we I can take my time and really explore and enjoy the place I'm in. Now, I've chosen to base myself in Denmark where I live with my boyfriend, but travel is still my passion, and I'm still living my freelance life, so I can travel whenever I want.
I eat local food, shop at local markets, meet local people and enjoy experiencing different cultures – all the while seeking out the best wifi and exploring everything there is to explore. Everyday is another adventure, and I'd love for you to be part of it!
Let's go!
