DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Biff is lost & struggling to figure out his life, & but he's not full of self-pity. Mastery in acting comes with the actor knowing how to find the exhilaration, even the thrill in -- finally! -- articulating the problem, no matter how painful that problem is. A great actor communicates a feeling of soaring when letting loose in words bout a big problem. The hero suffers but is not defeated. & the hero's journey is one of self-discovery, not an opportunity for lament.
