New York Times under scrutiny after re-hiring Hitler-praising journalist

Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton has slammed The New York Times for its decision to re-rehire Hitler-praising journalist Soliman Hijjy.

"The Times has just re-hired a freelance journalist, Soliman Hijjy, even though he posted this image with the words 'How great you are Hitler',” Mr Houghton said.

"When that's the maniac giving your newsroom on-the-ground intel, it is no wonder the Times got the hospital bombing story so wrong."

The New York Times was scrutinised after the publisher quickly blamed and accused Israel of blowing up a hospital in the Gaza Strip, killing 500 people.

Mr Houghton criticised the publisher for its "dangerous and "appalling" judgment in its decision to bring the “evil maniac” journalist back into its fold.

"Remember this case the next time a progressive journalist talks about extremism.”
