Warnings Australia ‘cannot meet’ net zero emission targets

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has warned Australia “cannot meet” its net zero emissions target without more robust interventions from the government, says Sky News host Caleb Bond.

The warning indicates net zero emission targets would be harder to reach without more robust intervention from the government “paving the way for a new hands-on industry policy with bigger subsidies for companies helping fuel the green energy revolution", Mr Bond said.

“Thank god the federal government has at least now admitted that we can’t meet these net zero targets,” he said.

“Because everyone else had already said we won’t beat these net-zero targets.

Mr Bond says the Labor government has decided to double down by saying “No, let’s go harder – more subsidies.”
