Boulangerite (Pb5Sb4S11) optical properties using a reflected-light polarizing microscope (adapted from Spry & Gedlinske, 1987):

System: Monoclinic

Reflectance: Strong

Colour: White with bluish green tint

VHN and polishing hardness: 92 - 125 / soft

Pleochroism: Weak, but distinct grey-green to grey-white

Anisotropism: Moderate to strong, light tan, brown, bluish grey, greenish shades

Internal reflections: Rare, red

Twinning: Not present

Commonly associated minerals: Bournonite, chalcopyrite, galena, jamesonite, pyrite, sphalerite, tetrahedrite-tennantite
