Abraham Wald | Understanding War Through Missing Data

In the midst of the Second World War, the U.S. government brought together some of the most brilliant mathematicians and statisticians from Columbia University in a team known as the Statistical Research Group (SRG). Funded by the Office of Scientific Research and Development, the group had, in simple terms, a key mission: to apply mathematics to solve critical problems in support of the Allied war effort.
