It is difficult to imagine that, just eighty years ago, this same location evoked a bleak picture, marked by the devastation of the deadliest war in human history. In July 1945, Berlin lay in ruins, with hardly a human figure to be seen among the rubble. Today, in stark contrast, historical sites and monuments such as the Brandenburg Gate stand vibrant, surrounded by colour, voices and movement, as an emblem of unity, peace and resilience. This monument, which once divided a city and a world, now unites generations. Sometimes, tracing the thread of time through these images can leave a deeper mark than the pages of history books.
