PCT days 38 & 39 8.3 miles & zero Pacific Crest Trail #pacificcresttrail #pctthruhike
PCT days 38 & 39 8.3 miles & zero Pacific Crest Trail After a few days off to let a massive blister chill out, I’d managed to push 41 miles back on trail. The last 18 went surprisingly well, but today? Not so much. Feet were not fresh, just hurting. Luckily, it was only about 8 miles to the highway.
We left the water cache and walked through the wind farm at sunrise, beautiful, but not much else to look at.
Just before the highway, a car pulled over and offered us a ride. First, we did a quick detour to help them unload water at the cache, always good to give back.
They dropped us off at a café in Tehachapi, and somehow they had one of my favorite sandwiches: Banh Mi. From there, we started the 1.5-mile trudge to the post office but only made it a few blocks before a kind local picked us up. She even circled back 30 minutes later to drive us around town. People here are incredible.
The post office did still have my box (barely), then it was on to pizza, beers, and a failed claw machine attempt before meeting up with the crew at the Airbnb.
Day 38 was chores and chilling. Laundry, resupply, and a long, glorious epsom salt soak for the feet.
Tehachapi is one of the most hiker-friendly towns I’ve ever been in. Feels like you can’t walk 10 feet without someone offering help. Feeling sore but lucky.
