PCT day 19 - 15.5 miles Pacific Crest Trail Woke up in the dark, headlamps on, packs loaded—it was Mission Creek day, and we knew it was gonna be a tough one. This section was wrecked by a tropical storm in 2023, and it shows. No trail, no breeze, just a hot canyon full of ankle destroyers and blister enhancers (loose rocks).

We pushed out 6 miles before the sun crested the canyon wall, then dove for any scrap of shade we could find. The frustration hit hard today—every step felt like a gamble, and I lost count of how many times I had to hop the creek. At mile 9, just when it looked like the worst was over, the trail laughed in our faces and climbed another 2,000’. At least it was a trail… for a bit.

Navigation got sketchy again, and by mile 15.5, we finally found a decent camp spot. Exhausted but relieved, we sat around and joked how miserable the day was and Skye became the first of us to attempt the Nuun tablet challenge. I retired to my tent and stared out into the trees, completely happy where I was.
