Homemade Bagels 🥯
8 bagels
Ingredients:
485g all purpose flour
8g dry active yeast
15g sugar
290ml water (room temperature)
36ml olive oil
1/2 tsp kosher salt
For the cooking liquid:
3L water
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp kosher salt
Method:
1. In a large mixing bowl place all of the ingredients and knead the dough on a low speed for 15 min.
2. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 15 min.
3. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each dough into a round ball, place the balls on a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Make a hole with your finger in the center of each ball to create a bagel shape.
5. Cover with plastic towel and let them rise for 20 minutes.
6. Heat the oven to 390f (200c)
7. In the meantime, heat the water, sugar and salt in a wide pot until the sugar melts and the water gently boiling.
8. When the bagels have finished rising, transfer them very gently to the boiling water and cook them for half a minute on each side.
9. Take them out and dry them from excess water
10. Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
11. Sprinkle with everything but bagel seasoning.
12. Bake them for 15-20 min out until nicely golden brown
Serve with your favorite cream cheese and Enjoy 😉
