Red lentil Dahl 🇮🇳

Ingredients:
2-3 Tbsp olive oil
2 white onions (chopped)
5 garlic cloves (minced)
1 inch ginger root (peeled and chopped)
2 carrots (peeled, cut to cubes)
1/2 tsp Bharat spice
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp chili flakes
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1 cup crushed tomatoes from a can
2 cups red lentils
5 cups of water
1 can (400 ml) coconut cream

For garnish:
Sour cream or coconut cream
Chopped cilantro

Method:
1. Chop the onion and ginger into small cubes, minced the garlic.
2. Chop the carrots into small medium cubes.
3. In a large pot over medium- high heat add olive oil and fry the onion, garlic and ginger for 4-5 min.
4. Add the chopped carrots and cook for another 5-7 min.
5. Add the spices, mix well.
6. Wash the orange lentils and add the lentils to the pan.
7. Add crushed tomatoes, water and mix well and cook for 40min or until the lentils are soft.
8. Add the coconut cream mix well and cook until you reach the right consistency of the Dahl.
9. Garnish with sour cream or coconut cream and chopped cilantro.
10. Serve with basmati rice and garlic naan (you can find the garlic naan recipe in the previous video)
