As us guys get older, it gets harder for us to build muscle, so the three tips I am going to give you is going to help you build muscle at 50. Let’s get started in this video tutorial for how to gain muscle after 50.

The first tip I have for you for building muscle after 50 is resistance training. You have to incorporate resistance training into your weekly workout program. When you put stress on your muscle fibers, your body is going to respond in a positive way and build muscle when it recovers. That is very important for how to gain muscle after 50. So many of you out there might think that you are not capable of lifting weights after 50, but guys you can so you have to change that mindset. If you put your mind to it, you can see fantastic results and build muscle after 50 years old.

Another thing you need to do for how to build muscle after 50 years old is to overcome your fear of embarrassment. I get it, it’s been awhile since you’ve been in the gym and you may not look fit or have a bigger belly. Well guess what, when you go to the gym people aren’t judging you. Everyone else in the gym sees you, and they are rooting for you to make that change and build muscle after 50 years old. So please don’t let your ego and fear of embarrassment stop you from making a change and trying to become healthy for the rest of your life. You can build muscle at 50 years old, you just need to believe in yourself.

The second tip on how to build muscle after 50 years old is progressive overload. Here is the problem guys, if you just put your workouts on cruise control, you’re going to hit a plateau very quickly. Progressive overload means you either need to lift more weight, do more reps of the same weight, or do more sets of the same weight. I recommend that before you increase your weight, you should increase your rep count first for building muscle after 50. Once your body starts becoming adjusted, that is when you need to make the next adjustment. Keep doing that in progressive overload, and that is a key for how to build muscle over 50 years old. And when you increase the weight, you will have to decrease the reps and sets back down to normal and keep repeating that process for how to build muscle at 50 years old. The last tip for how to build muscle over 50 years old is to make sure that you are resting and avoid overtraining. I hate to say it, but for guys our age it takes longer for us to recover than it did when we were in our 20’s. Everytime we hit our muscle fibers, they are being damaged so it takes a while to heal. But you need to damage those muscle fibers for building muscle after 50, and the recovery is the next important part to that. Most muscles take anywhere between 2-4 days to recover, depending on how strenuous your workouts are and what muscles you are working. So guys, be sure to get plenty of rest and that is how to gain muscle after 50.

Here is what I do for building muscle after 50. I rest for about 7 days before I start working that same muscle group again. You can train other muscle groups in between then, but make sure to give each muscle group about 7 days to recover and that will help with how to build muscle at 50 years old. And give each body part at least 2-3 days of rest before going at it again, and this is key for how to build muscle over 50 years old.

This way you can train with much more frequency without having to overtrain and that would prevent you from building the muscle. So, again this is very important for how to build muscle after 50 years old. Finally guys, you also need to know that sleep is a part of rest, most of our muscle growth occurs while we are sleeping. So if you have poor sleep habits, try to focus on making that better to help you with building muscle at 50 years old.
