Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town (Guitar) - The Killers - Sawdust

This is how Dave Keuning performed the song live, during the Day & Age tour of 2008-2009.

The guitar is tuned to Eb.

Live, The Killers performed this Mel Tillis cover on 4 occasions - all in 2009 in the US and all as a duet with Brandon and a female singer, Morgan Kibby.

The audio on the live recordings isn’t that good, so I decided to play over the studio version.

The song is fairly straightforward to play and follows a defined strumming pattern throughout. The live version doesn’t include the ‘country guitar’ style instrumental licks that the studio version has, other than one of the little 3-note repeating riffs, near the end.

Guitar-wise, Dave used his 1996 Candy Apple Red Fender American Standard Stratocaster.

I’m using the exact same spec guitar.
I suspect that the studio version wasn’t played on his Strat, or the tone was rolled off, as it’s somewhat warmer and more full than the live version.
