Two people are in critical condition after a Bonner Springs, Kansas house fire Monday night that also injured a good Samaritan and two police officers. Emergency crews were dispatched around 7 p.m. to the 500 block of Allcutt Avenue after witnesses reported people inside the burning home. When officers arrived, heavy smoke and flames were seen, and they entered the residence to aid those inside until firefighters arrived. Two residents and a passerby who stopped to help were transported to a hospital with serious injuries; the residents remain in critical condition, and the assisting citizen is in stable condition. The two Bonner Springs police officers were hospitalized for minor injuries and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
