A Kansas City, Missouri police officer shot a burglary suspect early Saturday during an investigation on 9500 Blue Ridge Blvd. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says officers responded to reports of multiple people breaking into a building and a storage container before 2and20 a.m. Three suspects were on scene and all ran. Two attempted to get into a car; an altercation unfolded at the vehicle as officers tried to take the two into custody. During the confrontation, one officer discharged his weapon. The female driver of the car was struck and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; she, a 35-year-old Kansas City resident, has been treated and released. The third suspect who hadn’t run to the car was later taken into custody several blocks away. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation, while KCPD continues to investigate the burglary.
