San Diego — Kansas guard Darryn Peterson has battled cramps and injuries all season, and his availability has been a focal point as the Jayhawks approach the NCAA Tournament. Peterson acknowledged the frustration of a year defined by what he couldn’t do and said he wished he could have played in the games he missed, but he didn’t know what his body would allow at the time. Now, he says he’s figured things out and has at last found his form. Head coach Bill Self said Peterson is moving better and believes he’s the healthiest he’s been all year, expressing optimism about a full complement of healthy players for the tournament. The Jayhawks will open against Cal Baptist on Friday night, with Self hoping Peterson’s improved conditioning translates into extended minutes and a fuller contribution as Kansas pursues another Deep Run. Peterson said the team’s support helped him stay patient and focused.
