FIRST KILL Season 2 Release NOT Happening: Netflix Canceled Teen Vampire Series Due to Low Ratings

Hey, guys! Well, no second chances for first-time vampires as Netflix just cancelled First Kill after only one season. Unfortunately, it is official: no Season 2 for First Kill. The cancelation news comes just 8 weeks after the teen supernatural series was released on Netflix in June. First Kill received rather mediocre reviews from viewers, who rated it at 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb and a little higher, at 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Teens are probably easier to please, especially considering the fact that there are not that many young adult shows out there. Critics, however, didn’t enjoy First Kill as much, which is reflected in the low 54% approval score. Anyway, Netflix makes its renewal and cancelation decision based on the ratio of viewing numbers vs. production cost. Apparently, First Kill didn’t have the staying power to become the next big hit. That is DESPITE the fact, that the show made it onto Netflix Top-10 list just three days after the premiere, peaked at #3 and stayed on the list for two whole weeks. Two leading actresses of First Kill are already working on other projects: Sarah Catherine Hook, who played Juliette, is filming Triangle, a new ABC mystery drama series; and Imani Lewis, who played Calliope, can be seen in Showtime comedy series Flatbush Misdemeanors.
