The WORLD’S 20 Leading INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENTS | PART 1

What the world’s leading independence movements? Across the planet, there
numerous territories and groups seeking independence. Many are small and little known. However, some manage to attract considerable international attention. But while they may be familiar to many people, the specific issues at stake may not be so well-understood.

In this two-part video, I present a brief guide to 20 of world's leading independence movements, campaigns, conflicts and disputes. In doing so, I cover a range of de facto states and separatist movements and look at the leading contenders to be the next member of the United Nations from across Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. As well as looking at the origins of the cases, I also look at where they currently stand, and where they might go in the future.
