Why did voice actor Isaac Hayes leave South park?

Chef was a prominent character in South park from its very first episode
in 1997.
the characters popularity and place in pop culture was cemented after he featured on a South park park soundtrack album during the shows second season, titled Chef aid.
the Album included a number of songs from the show, including the lead single chocolate salty balls which peaked at number 1 in the uk singles charts.

however after ten years working on the show voice actor Isaac Hayes would quit the show after South park featured an episode involving scientology.
