When the south park movie was released in June 1999 creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone believed that it would more than likely be the end of the show.

Bigger longer and uncut was released during south parks third season and felt at the time like a possible swan song for the show.

However the movie would become a huge success and would in fact change the future of the show, which is still on the air over 20 years later.
