Comic book fans are a diverse bunch, but they all have one dream in common: To develop superpowers, then use them to fight off a zombie uprising. This dream might never seem too far-fetched, but animals have beat us to it too. Now you don't have to look in the pages of comics to find amazing super abilities. Many real-world animals have powers that would make even Superman jealous. From the bat's brilliant vision to dolphins' communicating with unborn kids, here are ten animals with real superpowers!
Number 10. Bats
We all know about the daredevil. The blind guy in marvel comics who uses his hearing ability to attack the bad guys. Seriously, is using eyes not cool anymore? Anyway, like a daredevil, Bats can't see in the dark, despite being nocturnal animals. Instead, they have developed a similar ability to navigate and locate the prey at night, known as using echolocation. The bat emits a very high-frequency sound and listens to an echo that bounces off objects. The difference in time between talking the sound and hearing the echo makes it possible for the bat to construct a mental "picture" of its environment. It sounds that take longer to bounce back indicate that the surroundings are further away. The ability of Matt Murdock may not be too far from reality since humans can also learn to use echolocation. Some visually impaired people can accurately "visualize" their surroundings by making clicking noises. Unfortunately for that, you'd have to be blind. Would you go for such a trade-off?
Number 9. Mantis Shrimp
Mantis shrimp are ancient, fierce, and more than a little weird. Various forms of mantis shrimp have been around for an estimated 400 million years, and they aren't like any other shrimp about. They are so freakishly strong that their appendages, called "clubs," can smash crab shells and bust open clams. Some varieties even have spears rather than clubs, which are equally formidable. These clubs can also be used to dish out around 500 punches in under a second, delivering enough force to break the glass. If you think that's all, oh, you'd be VERY wrong. They can look in two different directions at once, and because these shrimps have that incredible eyesight power, they strike with pinpoint accuracy. There are about 400 other species of mantis shrimp, the most dazzling-looking of which is undoubtedly the multi-hued peacock mantis shrimp. The waters of Costa Rica and Bali are particularly rich in mantis shrimp. If you want to witness one in all its glory, you gotta book a diving expedition to see one up close.
Number 8. . shapeshifting octopus
The ability to shape and mimic the form of others is tremendous power for a superhero or villain – and has been used on many occasions by X – Men's Mystique to attract and exploit her enemies. A very few species in the real world are capable of changing their shape and scale. Mimic octopus is an example of a shapeshifter. It can change its color, behavior, and form, to mimic different sea animals. Most of the impersonated animals are toxic, so it helps the octopus fend off predators by pretending to be such animals. But this shapeshifter can also mimic his prey, perhaps in an effort to draw them closer before feasting on them. isn't a brilliant superpower! There are at least 13 examples reported so far, including sea snakes, jellyfish, and sea anemones the octopus can mimic.
Number 7. Chameleons
Chameleons are unique and highly specialized Old-World creatures with 202 species around the globe. These species come in a variety of colors, and many species have the ability to change colors. Chameleons are distinguished by their feet; their extensive, highly modified, tongues; their extraordinary gait, and their brow and snout with crests or horns. I know those are a lot of qualities but chameleons are just that amazing. In addition to its unique ability to change its skin color, the Chameleon has yet another "superpower"
to use. Chameleons have large eyes with a 360-degree arc of vision and can see two directions at once. That is the most distinctive eyes of any reptile. These odd animals have a very unusual spit too. In fact, their saliva is 400 times stickier than that of humans.
Number 6. Boa Constrictor
Do you know how the Predator would use that infrared heat detector thing to find and kill prey? Yeah, that's pretty much what a boa constrictor does, with all of the brutality of a Predator kill. If you are ever lost in the jungles of South America at night, know that there
