Many of us have dreamt of traveling around the world because there are just so many wonderful places to explore. With new transportation and traveling tech, the most secluded corners on earth have become accessible. However, there are some places that will never make it into the tourism brochures, and for good reason. They are just too dangerous, too protected, or maybe too special to visit. Whether it's the Tomb of a Chinese emperor or an Island infested by Viper snakes, the destinations on this list are closed off from the public
Number 10. Tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China
Normally you wouldn't want to visit the grave of a stranger, but this is the graveyard of the most important person in China's history. Deep in the hills of central China, the country's first emperor has lain for more than two millennia. The secret tomb of Qin Shi Huang was discovered in 1974 after some farmers stumbled across it while digging wells. They dug it out, but they didn't realize that it would be just one of the thousands of pieces of history at the site. The tomb is considered to be one of the greatest discoveries of all times but remains a mystery for historians and archaeologists.
They have excavated the site for nearly four decades and have uncovered about 2,000 clay soldiers. Scientists have not yet touched the central tomb, which contains the remains of Qin Shi Huang. It is said that the burial complex comprises of various things that Qin Shi Huang will need in the afterlife. Many believe that the tomb is filled with many other treasures, such as precious stones. Chinese authorities are the only ones allowed near the area, and it is up to them to decide if anyone ever gets to enter the mysterious tomb. To pay respect to the ancient site, the Chinese Government has prohibited excavation of the Tomb of Qin Shi Huang. No one can go against the orders of the Chinese Government, as we already know how ruthless they are!
Number 9. Lascaux Caves, France
Normal people don't usually want to visit caves, but if you're watching this video, you're anything but normal. Lascaux cave is one of the most interesting caves in the world. It is a treasure trove for archaeologists around the globe. While there are plenty of cool prehistoric paintings out there, none quite match those found in the Lascaux caves. Located near the village of Montignac in southwestern France, the cave complex contains prehistoric paintings that are 17,300 years old. Yes, you heard that right. The series of Paleolithic paintings that look hauntingly vivid hugs the wall and depicts animals like cattle, stags, bison and many more. Sadly, the cave has been closed to the general public since 1963. Archaeologists believe that human presence might destroy the ancient work of art. Kind of sad, but they are very much right about this.
Number 8. Snake Island
Are you afraid of snakes? Don't be shy. More than half of the Adult population is scared of snakes. If you're one of them, there is one island that you need to avoid at all costs, and it's Queimada Grande in Brazil. You must have heard of pest or weed infestation. But have you ever heard of something called Viper infestation? No, we are not making that up. This peaceful jungle paradise sits off the coast of Brazil, an island uninhabited by humans.
Ilha da Queimada Grande, or commonly known as the "snake-island," is literally crawling with golden lancehead pit vipers, a snake with venom about four times more potent than that of the regular old lancehead snakes. Golden lanceheads are endemic to Ilha da Queimada Grande as it's the only place they can be found in the whole world. Only a research team of the Brazilian navy is allowed on the island. A golden lancehead bite could kill a strong human in under an hour. Although only about 7 percent of bites result in death, it's an extraordinarily painful injury to incur. The only thing these snakes eat is a migrating bird. The viper had to evolve to make their bite strong and fast-acting, so the birds don't fly away before the snakes have a chance to feast on them. Would you want to visit this terrifying place?
Number 7. The Svalbard Global Seed Vault
Of all the secured places on earth, few are quite as important as the Svalbard global seed vault, located far up north on the Norwegian island of Svalbard. The vault essentially holds nearly 1 million seed samples. These seed samples contain thousands of seeds each, and they can be withdrawn by their depositors in order to deal with the loss of crops that can come from events such as wars, acts of terrorism, or natural catastrophes. Interestingly enough, this vault's operational costs are funded entirely
