Everyone loves traveling; who doesn't, right? Our world has various places which are ideal for tourist attractions. However, safety precautions are needed, especially when traveling to some of the most dangerous tourist stops. From high peaks to death roads, adrenaline junkies, grab your passports because there's nothing relaxing about these vacation spots.
Number 10. New Smyrna Beach
What do you get when you combine shark-infested Atlantic waters and lots of vacationing beach-goers? The shark attack capital of the world. In New Smyrna Beach, Florida, sharks are known to accidentally bite humans and bump into them from the waves. The waters of this popular beach resort town in east-central Florida are home to a great number of tigers, blacktip, and spinner sharks. It is also called "The shark attack capital of the world."
Volusia County, Florida, has had 299 attacks since 1882. That's not only the highest number of shark attacks recorded in Florida, but it's more than South Africa, whose attacks occurred over 2,798 miles (4,503 kilometers) of coastline, as opposed to a single county. Indeed, at New Smyrna Beach, there are more incidents per square mile than on any other beach in the world. While these sharks are not as aggressive as a bull or great white sharks, they have still been known to attack humans by accident. There can be as many as 300 surfers in the water on a given day. A floating surfer also looks a whole lot like a turtle or other prey from below the surface. Add to the mixture a huge number of people in the water almost year-round in this popular beach resort and you get a recipe for lots of shark attacks. In fact, more people have been attacked by sharks off the coast of New Smyrna than in any other place in the world.
Number 9. HALF DOME – California
In the Yosemite National Park, which is full of challenging hikes, Half Dome is undoubtedly the toughest one. But did that ever stop humans from risking their lives just for the thrill? Never! The 14.5-mile Mist Trail is one of the most popular among American hikers as 3,000 hikers escape the trail unscathed every day in the summer. But there are a few tricky spots that could leave you seriously injured if you're unprepared. According to a Yosemite hiking website, more than 60 people have died on Half Dome and the trail leading up to it. During the hike, you'll ascend over 4,500 feet to nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. The last 400 feet to the summit requires using a vertical cable trail to scale the dome's slippery face. In addition, the peak frequently hosts thunderstorms. A lot of hikers have died from lightning strikes as they fall down. The only thing more electrifying than the weather is the scenery from the top. So, are you ready for it?
Number 8. Running With The Bulls
If this event in Spain is on your bucket list this year, then you definitely need to hear this. The chance of being hit or gored by a bull in the Running of the Bulls may relatively be low; however, being hit can result in injuries ranging from bruises to goring and even death. There is just no guarantee for avoiding collision with a bull. People have been known to get hit even when they are pressed into a doorway. It is impossible to know exactly what catches a bull's attention and makes him turn suddenly. The death toll since 1910 is 15 men, including a man who suffocated to death in a pile-up of runners.
Besides the dangers of the bulls themselves, there is also the possibility of being trampled on by other runners. This is quite frequent and can result in serious injuries if runners pile up. The worst bottleneck is at the entrance to the Bullfight Arena. This location should be avoided, especially because there is no escaping from the bulls. Dead Man's Corner is also a dangerous spot that should be avoided by first-time runners.
Number 7. MINAMI ASO, JAPAN
This is one of the most dangerous routes to cover through the train. While the train itself isn't all that dangerous, the terrain it crosses can be deadly, for the Minami Aso Railway travels through the base of an active volcano. You may never know when the next eruption may occur. One can see the lava burnt forest close to the tack. That volcano isn't the only dangerous thing on track. The train also traverses the Tateno bridge, a wood and steel overpass high above the water below it. TripAdvisor calls the trek on the Minami Aso a pleasant 30-minute ride with a view of the lovely scenery Mount Aso has to offer. But we're still thinking about that fall from the bridge.
