Analog Fox Voodoo Fuzz combined with Fulltone OCD
I've really wanted to show off this fuzz again. It is made in Moscow using NOS Russian Germanium transistors from the '80's. Also, I am pretty sure they are PNP Germanium transistors like the original Arbiter Fuzz Faces used. Analog Fox supplies a crossover cable so you can use your standard 9v walwart. I think PNP Germanium transistors may sound a little different and more importantly, react differently to other effects. I put my old Dunlop Mini Fuzz Face (FFM2) back on my board for a few days and I started missing the Voodoo Fuzz. It also has extra gain added that he calls "The Jimi Hendrix" mod. There is some of my guitar rambling in this video but the main point is the tone. I use the Voodoo Fuzz for my main overdrive. I keep my guitar volume between 6-7 and there is a real sweet spot in that area. I list my rig below and everything I am using. The cool thing is when the fuzz is coupled with a Uni-Vibe type circuit like my Vibe Baby, it tames the fuzz some so you can turn your guitar to 10 and it is still not out of control. If you want full fuzz, just hit the tru-bypass switch on the Vibe Baby. I have the OCD on low gain. It adds a nice dirty foundation to everything.
Amp: Original 1959 Bassman that has been retweeded and the speakers have been reconed. You can see the settings in the video. I am in the Bright channel. I run the amp on 109v by using my Carl Hartman Tone Preserver (step down transformer either -6v or -12v). House voltage is 121v
Guitar: Nash S-68HX left handed Strat, Olympic White, Lollar Dirty Blonde pickups, D'Addario XL's 10-46 with a .015 plain G string, the guitar is tuned down 1 whole step to D.
Effects Chain Order: Classic Amplification Vibe-Baby, Analog Fox Voodoo Fuzz, Area 51 wah-wah, Fulltone OCD, MXR Carbon Copy (on but not noticeable), Framptone 3 Banger amp switcher, original 1964 Fender reverb unit, into the amp.
Fuzz knobs are both almost maxed out a 4:00
