Power to Love - A Closer Look, Part 6
Finally! It's done. There are more Jimi'isms in this section. Jimi sense of rhythm and timing is uncanny. I think it is the part of your brain that allows you to sing and play at the same time. It was just a natural thing for him.
Now we can move on to "Killing Floor" at the Monterey Pop Festival. I have not seen anyone that plays it like Jimi did then. He didn't play it like that again either. It's going to be a great "Closer Look" at Jimi's genius. Thank goodness there is some video of that performance that gave me a few more clues to what he was doing, from volume control, to chord forms. I actually think Jimi had the same problem of inadvertently hitting the volume knob like I do with the left handed guitar. But most of the time he knew exactly what he was doing with it. When you watch the video, be sure to check out the times when he turns the volume knob. He does it so fast and he will still hammer on a few notes to never miss a beat. A complete master of the guitar.
