What is Progressive Reenacting?

In the United States, the word "Progressive" comes with a lot of political baggage, as it generally refers explicitly to a political movement of sorts. In the world of reenactment, however, while the term may still carry a lot of weight, it means something wildly different. Rather than being political it is more academic, and refers to a style of maintaining historical accuracy and authenticity in one's impressions. Not to say that we don't still find a way to politicize the term, of course! -
