1950s sketch comedy, from back when any reference to male homosexuality was considered hilarious, and mentions of same-sex marriage counted as absurdist humor.
In this newscast spoof from Steve Allen's variety show, Tom Poston plays a travel correspondent, supposedly reporting from Scotland. The Duke proposing to his character was probably an allusion to the 1950s sex scandals involving male British aristocrats and nobles.
