TODAY IN QUEER TV HISTORY

MEDICAL CENTER: "Undercurrent" - 9/23/1970, CBS

One of the first TV episodes about job discrimination based on sexual orientation aired on this date in 1970.

A hospital considers halting development of a promising cancer drug because of rumors that the lead investigator is gay. His research partner has resigned to protect his own reputation, and members of the hospital's research board have received vicious letters urging them to fire the pervert in their midst. A plausible plot in 1970.
