It’s no secret that living in different parts of the United States can be cheaper than others. So what I wanted to do today is compare what $1 million dollars can buy you in Los Angeles, California versus what $1,000,000 can buy you in Texas.

It’s pretty obvious that LA and Texas are vastly different places. But why does it cost so much less to live roughly 1,500 miles apart? It’s also not much of a secret over the last couple years people have been moving in droves out of LA, to places such as Texas. Notably public figures like
Elon Musk and Joe Rogan and many more. Have made the move to the lone star state. So let’s first take a look at what $1 million dollars can buy you in Los Angeles, California.

Listed on the market in July of 2021 for $999,000 we have 6034 Burwood Ave, in Los Angeles, California. The home is located just north of downtown LA between Glendale and Pasadena. The home offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 1,150 square feet of living space breaking down to about $869 per square foot. The home is smack dab in the middle of the buzz of LA and only sits on a measly 0.12 acres of land. Just straight off the bat when I think of a million dollar home this is not what I imagine. The home offers literally zero natural grass which if I’m spending a million dollars on a home it’s going to have a grass backyard not a concrete slab.

As you make your way into the home you step straight into the living room which also would house the dining room if you do choose to squeeze a table in there. Steps away you enter into the kitchen which offers a nice sized U shaped kitchen with a breakfast bar peninsula. If I were living in this home I would nix the idea of a dining room and opt to eat all my meals at the bar. I do enjoy the marble countertops with white painted cabinets, which definitely offers a modern look to this tiny home.

Swinging back to the front of the home you will find the first bedroom which is currently set up for the dining room. This room offers one closet which would be plenty of storage for a kids room. Adjacent to the 1st bedroom is a beautiful bathroom which features a glass shower and vanity which would suit the first two bedrooms of the home as well as the common areas. One room over you will find the second bedroom in the home which is essentially a mirror image of bedroom number 1.

A little further down the hall you will pass by the laundry closet and enter into the master bedroom. The master offers plenty of room with a private walk-in closet and French doors out to the backyard. Stepping into the master bath you will find a dual vanity with a nice tiled shower as well as a tiled tub with another shower head. I find this setup super unique but it works so who am I to judge. Out in the backyard or backyard concrete patch there is room for a basketball hoop and that’s just about it. That’s what $1 million dollars buys you in Los Angeles, California. I’m curious though in comparison what will $1 million dollars buy you in Texas?

Listed on the market in August of 2021 for $1,000,000 we have 12411 Broken Pine Lane, in Cypress, Texas. The home is located about 30 miles north of Houston, Texas, the largest city in the state. The home offers 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms with 5,200 square feet of living space breaking down to about $192 per square foot. The home is located in a high class golf community on half an acre of land with the first hole of BlackHorse Golf Club located in the backyard. Now when I think of a million dollar home this is definitely more of a home that comes to mind.

Making your way inside the home you have a grand entrance front and center which leads into a small sitting room with windows out to the backyard. Off to the left of the entrance way you will find the home's formal dining room which definitely offers more space than its counterpart over in LA. Moving over into the next room you will step into the main living space of the home which offers a gas fireplace with built-in wall cabinets that I actually really like. Adjacent to this space you will find the home kitchen and small breakfast table.

In the kitchen you have granite countertops with white painted cabinets with top of line appliances. This space is much larger than the kitchen in the LA home however I do personally like the styling of the kitchen in LA more but the size and space you get in the Texas home is definitely superior. Also located on the first floor is the master bedroom which offers a spacious window facing the backyard. The master bathroom offers separate vanities with a large walk-in shower a massive soaking tub. Definitely feel this style is slightly outdated but nothing a couple cosmetic fixes can’t change.
