It hasn’t been a great 2021 for most people. But on the flip side it’s been amazing for others. One group of people that had an amazing 2021 were every single one of the 6.5 million home sellers that sold their homes for top dollar this year. This year we saw some serious record breaking real estate deals go down. From $200 million dollar ranches in Montana to $100 million dollar SouthHampton estates to a pair of penthouses in the Big Apple. But after all of those massive property exchanges there has to be one home that was the most expensive home sold in 2021!

The most expensive home that sold in 2021 is 535 North County Rd in Palm Beach, Florida. The stunning property sold for $122,700,000 in February of 2021. Now this isn’t the most expensive property that exchanged hands in 2021 we chose to exclude any ranches and estates that feature multiple homes and structures on one property. 535 North County Road is the most expensive individual home that sold in 2021. The new owner of this stunning mansion is Scott Shleifer the cofounder of private equity firm Tiger Global which manages $65 billion dollars of investments and assets under their name. Believe it or not at one point and time this property once belonged to former President Donald Trump, however the home looks drastically different from When Trump used to call it home.

Surprisingly the home’s tax value is only $30,000,000 which will result in an annual tax bill of $500,000 per year and Scott can also expect to pay roughly $750,000 per year in homeowner’s insurance which is absolutely mind boggling but I don’t think will be much of an issue for the billionaire.

The home is a 9 bedroom and 19 bathroom with 21,066 square feet of living space breaking down to about $5,824 per square foot. The home is situated on 2.25 acres of land with a whopping 560 feet of direct beach access which unfortunately is not a private beach. Can you imagine that, you spend over $100 million dollars on a beach house and the beach isn’t even private. Couldn’t be me.

As you make your way up to the stunning property you have a long split driveway that passes by the guest house and carries over to the main house with a motor court out front. As you make your way inside of the home you have a formal living room front and center with glass and marble as far as the eye can see. There are doors straight ahead that lead out to the stunning backyard space. Off to the right side of the home you will find the wine cellar and bar of the home which features a stunning tropical fish tank. There is an additional room with plenty of seating and more doors out to the backyard.

Flipping over to the other side of the home you’ll find the home’s kitchen which features stunning stone countertops with top of the line appliances. For such an expensive home you’d expect a much more lavish and grand kitchen but also if you have the much money you probably are never cooking a single meal for yourself so I guess it doesn’t really matter. Adjacent you’ll find another sitting room with doors out to the backyard which carries even further to more entertaining space that gives direct access out to the ocean. Stepping outside into the backyard space you have a stunning pool with a built-in hot tub and sunken lounge chairs. There is ample yard space with palm trees lining the view of the Atlantic. There is a set of stairs leading down to the crashing waves of the ocean at the edge of the property. What’s crazy is looking at this house compared to the home next door I can only imagine how much the neighbor’s home is worth.

Heading back inside and upstairs you’ll find a common area at the top of the stairs. Down the hall is where you’ll find the master suite. The master features a large open room with its own private terrace that overlooks the backyard and ocean. There’s a private hot tub that would be the ideal place to cool down after a long day on the beach. The master bathroom offers a large soaking tub which opens up into the bedroom. There's a glass shower and plenty of counter space for getting ready in the morning. Additionally there is his and hers walk in closets which is expected in such an expensive home. The remaining bedrooms in the home all offer their own en suite bathrooms as is essentially required in a home of this stature.

In the basement of the home you’ll find a huge wine cellar and an additional living space. As well there is a home spa with a sauna and a room for a home gym. The home also features a separate two bedroom guest house which features its own private pool and a full living room and kitchen space.
